Community Risk Reduction,
Garden Valley Fire District
In the realm of Community Risk Reduction, the focus of our emergency response efforts is on enhancing and optimizing services provided by first responders to improve community safety. The Garden Valley Fire District exemplifies this commitment through its comprehensive approach:
- Responded to a record high of 428 alarms in 2023.
- Operates as an all-hazards department, equipped to manage a wide array of incidents beyond traditional structure and wildland firefighting.
- Primarily responds to 911 medical and trauma incidents, highlighting the department’s versatility in addressing community needs.
- Reduced response times from an average of 29 minutes to 12 minutes.
- Ensures optimal staff utilization by cross-training personnel in both fire and EMS services, guaranteeing that trained, multi-faceted responders are promptly deployed to address incidents with the latest tools and technologies.
This multi-faceted strategy ensures that the Garden Valley Fire District is well-prepared to manage diverse emergency situations with an emphasis on safe, expedient responses, thereby contributing to the overall safety of the community we serve.

Garden Valley Fire District Proposed Levy Community Meeting
May 7, 2026
Dear Garden Valley Fire Protection District Taxpayers,
Video Presentation for your viewing
The Garden Valley Fire Protection District would like to thank all residents who participated in the November levy election. We recognize and respect the outcome of that vote and acknowledge that a majority of voters did not support the proposed levy increase of $475,000.
Following the election, we have carefully reviewed community feedback and reassessed the district’s most immediate operational needs. In response, the Board voted to propose a reduced levy of $186,150. This request is narrowly focused on supporting the district’s “On-call program”.
